Visual Journal 5 is the fifth and final book in my first Visual Journal series.
Created entirely on my iPad and drawn from direct observation, this journal follows the small moments that make up everyday life—coffee shops, gardens, museums, books, meals, travel, conversations and quiet moments of reflection. Each page combines sketches with handwritten notes, creating a visual diary rather than a traditional sketchbook.
By the time I reached this journal, drawing had become second nature. I was no longer trying to produce perfect sketches. Instead, I simply recorded whatever caught my attention, trusting that the accumulation of ordinary moments would become something meaningful.
This volume also marks an unexpected turning point. During the period covered by these pages, my husband Thomas suffered a major stroke. The interruption to my daily sketching practice brought this first series of visual journals to a close, making this book both a celebration of a creative habit and a record of a profound change in our lives.
Whether you're interested in sketching, visual journaling, digital art or simply the beauty of everyday observation, Visual Journal 5 offers an intimate glimpse into an artist's life—one sketch at a time.
